=> Lassa Fever Kills Doctor, Nurse & Pregnant Woman In Kaduna-Dailypost

The confidence to invest and make profit in Nigeria has dropped drastically over the last year, with investors withdrawing more than N2.2 trillion from the economy in 2015. According to statistics from Nigeria’s Data Bureau (NBS), as quoted by Quartz Africa, investor confidence in Nigeria rose significantly between 2010 and 2013, only to take a little dive in 2014, and a drastic drop in 2015. When Goodluck Jonathan was announced acting president of the country in 2010, following the illness and subsequent death of Umaru Yar’Adua, investing interest in Nigeria rose by N1.17 trillion. In Jonathan’s second year, and after a “successful” presidential election, investing interest rose by N396 billion to an approximate N1.6 trillion. By 2013, investing interest in Nigeria had risen by N2.65 trillion to N4.22 trillion. In 2014, towards the build-up of the 2015 general elections, which predicted endless doom for Nigeria, some investors withdrew their monies from the Nigerian economy, leading to a drop from N4.22 trillion to N4.1 trillion. In 2015, however, there was a drastic withdrawal of investing interest in Nigeria, and according to NBS, investing interest declined by N2.2 trillion in 2015.

Some investors blamed it on the uncertainties that surrounded the 2015 elections, while many others blamed it on the lack of policy direction in the first five months of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. Data from the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) show that investors were voting their monies out of the economy prior to the election, but immediately after the relatively free and fair poll, they brought the monies back.

=> “I’m 17, I’m Here To Be A Muslim, I Don’t Want To Go Back” – ‘Abducted’ EsePremiumTimes

A teenager, who was allegedly kidnapped from Bayelsa State to Kano, Ese Oruru, said on Monday she was not interested in reuniting with her family, denying reports that she was abducted from her home in Bayelsa State.
In an exclusive audio recording obtained by PREMIUM TIMES on Monday, the girl also said she eloped with her lover to Kano in order to convert to Islam.
“My name is Aisha Chuwas. I am 17-year-old. I came here to be a Muslim and I will stay here,” she said in the audio.
The recording appeared a conversation between Miss Oruru and a police interrogator in Kano.
A human rights lawyer, Huwaila Mohammed, who was given access to the girl at the Zonal Police Headquarters in Kano, said upon interrogation, she understood the girl was never forced to convert to Islam.
“I was there to protect her rights,” Ms. Mohammed said. “When I approached her initially, she refused to talk to me. Later she opened up to me.
“She is very defiant. She told me she was born in February 1999. I personally wanted her to reunite with her family, but surprisingly she asked me to tell her mother that she will never return to Bayelsa.
“The police should ensure that she is protected and returned to her family. She is still not matured enough to take such a weighty decision without parental consent.”
Ms. Mohammed, who also spoke with Miss Oruru’s lover, Yunusa Yellow, said upon interrogation, she established that he is 18-year-old man “not anywhere above 20”.
“I was surprised when I saw a very small boy. He is just 18-year old. I was enraged thinking that it was an old man involved in the saga. From the way I see it, they eloped not because of religion but love,” she said.
In his reaction, the emir of Kano denied reports that he was holding Miss Oruru.
The emir said on Monday that since September last year, the emirate council handed her over to AIG Zone 1, Tambari Yabo, for onward transportation to her family in Bayelsa.
He said the district head of Kura brought the case to the palace when Mr. Yunusa presented Ms. Oruru to the district office, seeking approval to marry her.

=>“Buhari Never Promised N5,000 Jobseeker’s Allowance” – PresidencyPunch

The Presidency on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari never promised to pay unemployed graduates N5,000 monthly.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, said this in an interview with State House correspondents.

Akande, whose boss, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo supervises the economy, spoke while reacting to statement credited to Buhari in which the President ruled out the possibility of his government paying N5,000 monthly allowance to unemployed youths in the country as promised by his party, the All Progressives Congress, ahead of the 2015 presidential election.
He said the provision the government made in the 2016 Budget currently before the National Assembly is to pay N5,000 monthly to one million extremely poor Nigerians, and not the unemployed graduates.
He said the promise to the poor still stands.
He explained that a provision for half a trillion naira had been made in the budget for social investment, which he said included the payment for the extremely poor.
Akande said, “The budget for 2016 which has been submitted to the National Assembly has made an allocation of half a trillion naira, the first time in the history of this country’s budget where you have that huge chunk of money allocated for social investment.
“In that N500bn which is half a trillion naira, close to about 20 per cent of the entire budget, there are six social safety net programmes.
“One of them is the Conditional Cash Transfer where government is going to pay N5,000 monthly to the vulnerable and extremely poor Nigerians. That promise stands.
“The President never promised to pay unemployed graduates N5,000; the President never made that promise and the government never made that claim that it will pay N5,000 to unemployed graduates.

=> “I Served Rev. King Stark-Unclad,With No Pant Or Bra For 7 Years” – Former Maid-Dawntodustknews

Miss Susan Chizoba, a former maid to the General Overseer of Christ Praying Assembly (CPA),Rev. Emeka King, was one of those who testified against him before an Ikeja High Court in 2006. At the time, Rev. King was on trial for the murder of one of his members, Miss Ann Uzor and attempting to murder five others by pouring petrol on them and setting them ablaze. Testifying at the trial in October 2006, Miss Chizoba informed the court that she was taken to the church in 2000 by her parents believing it to be a Christian home but that her parents stopped coming to the church six months later while she lived with Rev. King for seven years.
In her words, Miss Chizoba, testifying at the court said: “When I came to live with the accused (Rev. King), he told me that I would be his permanent maid and that I would agree not to marry. He said anytime I wanted to serve him I must be stark Unclad which I did. No pant, no bra, I would be completely Unclad before him and I did this not once, not twice, but for several years. He also ordered me not to tell any member of my family where I was living. He gave me a ring which I always put on to indicate that I am his permanent maid and all this he made me to put into writing. I am a member of the Lord’s army and we bully people, putting fear into them and molesting them.

“The accused(Rev. King) is a very violent person, he would beat us mercilessly and as a result we always have wounds on our bodies. He called himself god, the owner of the universe and could do anything. We know this is not so but out of fear we could not challenge him. On the 22nd July 2006 the day of the fire incident, a sister named Kelechi came to call me from the Boys Quarter of the accused’s house where we were staying that the accused wanted to see me.
“When I got to him he did not even allow me to kneel down as we usually did when talking to him before he started beating me with stick, rod and anything he could find. I started crying, shouting and begging him not to kill me. It was then I noticed others who were there; Cosy, Chiejile, Jessica, Ann, Vivian and Kelechi. He accused me that I lied to him that Chiejile did not sleep with me whereas Chiejile had confessed to him that he slept with me. But Chiejile never did he only said that so that the accused will not kill him.

=> No Going Back On Treasury Single Account – FG Insists-TheNation

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), other government agencies and parastatals hoping to get exemption from Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA), have been advised to partner with government for the success of the policy.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, said the introduction of TSA will bring a lot of benefits to Nigerians, adding that those against the policy are simply being narrow-minded.

Mrs Winifred who spoke yesterday in Lagos during an official visit to the Administrative Staff College of Nigerian (ASCON), Topo, Badagry expressed worries that some unscrupulous Nigerians might want to circumvent TSA implementation.

She said: “TSA is a global best practice for the control of government resources. All the hue and cry of being exempted from TSA is purely being done from a narrow point of view. TSA, when it is fully rolled out, is for the benefit of everybody because it is for the central control of government resources.
“Already, we know that there has been so many leakages; every agency and organisation was just allowed to operate by itself, but so far as government agency is drawing from the central pool, there should be a control.
“I believe that all agencies, and universities should come to terms that TSA has come to stay and they should put in their best in ensuring its success. I do not see anything wrong with TSA, I’m only worried about how we Nigerians always want to apply things in our usual ways; trying to run away from control, accountability and discipline.”
She said just as the new word ‘budget padding’ entered the nation’s political lexicon, she was equally shocked to learn what she also called ‘a strange development’.

=> Power Supply Drops To 2,665MW Due To Explosions And Gas Constraint-ThisDay

Inadequate supply of gas to the power station and explosions at transmission lines in the Lagos area and Jebba have resulted in a drop in electricity generation to 2,665MW, THISDAY has learnt.
THISDAY gathered that with this development, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has directed the 11 distribution companies (Discos) nationwide “not to pick loads to avoid a system collapse”.
Data obtained from a source at TCN on the “Daily Load Analysis and Day Ahead Consumption” for yesterday showed that between 1 am and 6 am on Saturday, generation fell to 2,500MW.
However, between 6 am and 11.59 pm, the hourly dispatch to the Discos rose to 2,721.20MW, thus averaging 2,665.90MW for the whole day.
The chief executive of one of the Discos, who did not want to be named, told THISDAY yesterday that with the abysmally low level of generation, TCN directed the Discos not to pick loads to forestall a system collapse.
“When generation is very low like this, TCN tries to stabilise it and the only way to stabilise it is to balance the load. Right now, we can’t pick any load, otherwise there will be a system collapse,” he said.
TCN had at the beginning of this month announced for the first time that the country generated about 5,074.7MW of electricity.
The attainment of the new record peak generation as well as the highest maximum daily energy of 109,372 megawatts hour (MWH) was recorded on February 2, 2016.
Before this, the previous peak generation was put at 4,883.9MW attained on November 23, 2015, and the previous highest maximum daily energy wheeled out nationwide was 107,142.32MWH recorded on January 26, 2016.
It was however gathered that supply, which later averaged above 4,600MW, has deteriorated in recent weeks due to transmission and gas supply issues.
At the recent second sectoral meeting held in Lagos between the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, and all the operators in the power and gas sectors, TCN had identified 51 transmission issues for resolution in areas like Alaoji, Sokoto, Ahoada, Damaturu, Gbarain, Calabar, Afikpo, Nsukka, Okigwe, Ihiala, Ayede, Ikeja, Ajah, Lekki, Kebbi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Makurdi, Kainji, Kafanchan, Otukpo, Hadejia, Wudil, Kumbotso, Bauchi, Gombe, Katsina, Daura, Abuja and Maiduguri.
A source at the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo, Osun State, who spoke to THISDAY yesterday on the condition of anonymity, blamed the poor supply situation on inadequate gas supply to the generation companies and explosions that occurred on the transmission lines in the Lagos and Jebba areas.

In reality, the original African woman is almost half-Unclad when she wants to dance.
Remember in the past, when the women come out to dance; they are almost half-Unclad, what am I even say¬ing? Till today, in South Africa, there is this festival they do, where women come out without tops, not even a bra.
The King does not allow the use of bra at all. I am an African woman, that is why when you see me in some videos I use calabash as bra and other times I wear very short things, not because I am trying to be super sexy, I am only presenting myself the way I am to my fans,”
